We have a lot going on in Art classes throughout the district -- check out what GES students are working on.

4th Grade spent several weeks with a printmaking unit. They carved a board, colored it with marker, and transferred the colors; they are starting their portrait units. They have made thumbnail sketches and will enlarge them, shade, color, and paint them.

5th Grade finished their still life unit. They drew shoes and shells. They just finished creating blueprints for their dream houses. They studied architecture and created their own designs. Their next unit will be on surrealism. They will be making collages by transforming animals into imaginary creatures.
*(see below for an example)

6th Grade - finished studying monochromatic colors. They took black and white pictures and converted them by mixing blue and white and green and white to monochromatic pictures. They also drew a picture and mixed colors (primary, secondary, and tertiary) to paint them. We are now working on our 1 point perspective unit.

Surrealistic Art Project

The students combined two animals into one from Mrs. Smakal’s Art class.
