Dear GES Families,

In light of the increasing numbers of Covid cases and precautionary Department of Health quarantines, the district is looking at ways to limit the number of exposures. I am grateful to the number of parents and families who are already transporting their children and appreciate your support in helping us to keep all students safe and in school.

Bus Ridership

When you can drive your own child to school, please consider doing so. The bulk of students we are seeing be considered for precautionary quarantine are the result of bus seating arrangements.

Mask Use

Masks are required by Commissioner's regulations -- which are the rules schools must follow: "all students, personnel, teachers, administrators, contractors, and visitors must wear masks at all times indoors, regardless of vaccination status."

  1. Masks are required to be worn whenever students/staff are moving outside on school grounds where 6ft distance cannot be maintained. This includes arrival and dismissal since our student groups tend to move into smaller groups of students as they enter or leave. Once off campus, students do not need to wear masks.
  2. Teachers do have permission to arrange mask breaks. Mask breaks can only occur once everyone is seated and all individuals are maintaining 6ft. Mask breaks can also be given outside and once students are at least 6ft apart.
