Dear Granville School Families, The Granville Jr/Sr High and GES was on lockdown for approximately 5 minutes immediately following the Jr/Sr High release bell due to a security issue in the Village of Granville, that was not on school grounds. At 2:20pm our School Resource Officer (SRO) was alerted by the Granville Police Department that there was an individual with a handgun in the village. In response, we immediately went into lockdown to prevent our Jr/Sr High and GES students from entering the village until further information. At 2:23pm Granville Police Department alerted our SRO that the individual was apprehended and we ended the Lockdown. Our security personnel and administrators have released all JR/SR students to buses and after school activities as usual, and GES will be released on time as well. Please note, as result all GES and JR/SR high buses will be running approximately 10 minutes late, as they left the JR/SR high later than normal. Thank you Granville families for your cooperation and understanding. Our students are safe and we thank Granville PD for rapidly alerting us of a potential issue and special thanks to our SRO and administrators for working swiftly to keep our school community safe and secure. Thank you again, - Granville CSD

Meet Barb's Bench - A tribute to one of our beloved Granville Elementary custodians that passed away, and a new addition to the GES grounds. According to Ms. Pilch, a Fifth Grade Teacher at GES, "Barbara Varney was a custodian here at GES who was well respected and loved by students and adults in the building. She was a very kind person and always willing to help others. Barb passed away in 2023 and it was very sad for those of us who knew her. To honor her memory, we gathered support from our community and staff: The bench was donated to us by Telescope; Our maintenance people poured the cement foundation and installed it; and we took up a donation for flowers and the plaque from staff." Thank you to our staff and community for celebrating Ms. Varney's life and work. Barb's Bench was installed in the spring and the plaque was affixed in September. Come say hello to Barb's Bench sometime and take a picture with your kids in celebration of her life and service to Granville CSD school community.
